Robert Tarcza

Mr. Tarcza’s area of expertise is tax counseling and related litigation. He has been certified as a specialist in the field of Tax Law by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization since 1987, and has been a member of the bar of the United States Tax Court since 1982.

For nearly 30 years, Mr. Tarcza has appeared before federal and state courts and federal, state and local government legislatures and agencies in matters involving tax disputes and employment issues. In that time, Mr. Tarcza has acted as a trusted counselor to governmental pension funds on all matters concerning their structuring, development, problem investments, contract/coverage issues and tax planning needs.

Mr. Tarcza’s practice has included the evaluation of alternative investments and related litigation. His experience includes drafting and review of documents related to shopping centers, hotels, office buildings, the development of raw land and investment partnerships. He has developed master leases and mezzanine financing arrangements as well as handling more standard financing and ownership transactions.

Mr. Tarcza has supervised and handled a number of special projects from the acquisition of the land through construction and leasing management. He has supervised litigation involving breach of contract, break-up issues, insurance coverage issues and zoning. In connection with his counseling work, Mr. Tarcza has advised trustees, executive management and consultants on problem venture capital matters and has developed and assisted in drafting, lobbying and passing legislative and administrative solutions to various issues on the state and municipal level.

Mr. Tarcza was born in Alton, Illinois on January 26, 1956. He graduated from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida, then attended Loyola University in New Orleans, receiving his B.A. cum laude in 1978 and his law degree in 1981. While in law school on an academic scholarship, he won the Louisiana Trial Lawyers’ award for appellate advocacy and served as managing editor of the Loyola Law Review. In undergraduate school, he was elected to membership in the national honor societies for Political Science and Psychology, as well as the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity.

Mr. Tarcza founded the predecessor to Tarcza & Associates in 1991.

Mr. Tarcza is rated “av” by Martindale-Hubbell law directory, the highest rating offered by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. He is also listed in Who’s Who in American Law.

Mr. Tarcza is listed as a Louisiana Super Lawyer in tax law.

Mr. Tarcza serves as a volunteer on several community boards. He is general counsel to the Better Than Ezra Foundation and the Greater New Orleans Entertainment Foundation. He also formed and is active in the Kenner Rotary Foundation, a museum foundation in New Orleans and a foundation to benefit the care and rehabilitation of rescue animals.
